- Turkson Side, an LP almost completely comprised of samples, lands in November.
The next album on Nicolas Jaar's Other People label will be Okokon's Turkson Side.
Africanus Okokon is a graphic designer and visual artist who's been working with Other People for some time (he designed the label's current website and a few record covers). With a background in video, animation and collage, he often works with unconventional methods—a characteristic that also applies to his music.
According to Other People, Turkson Side is almost entirely composed of samples, which include "alien telecast High-Life, gibberish spoken word, and xylophonic skeleton dance march music." Most tracks were recorded in one take though custom-made playback software. The album is due out on November 13th.
