  • The first weekend of Australia's Stereosonic festival tour has resulted in one drug-related death. Police said that 25-year-old pharmacist Sylvia Choi fell seriously ill around 5:15 PM after a suspected drug overdose. She was taken to Concord Hospital where she was pronounced dead at around 9:30 PM. Some media outlets have reported that Choi had taken an ecstasy tablet along with MDMA mixed into a water bottle. This has not yet been confirmed by the NSW Police. Stereosonic's organisers offered their condolences via their Facebook page, asking their audience "that they stay safe and look out for each other." A second woman, 22, was rushed to Westmead Hospital and put into an induced coma. She has since been discharged. Police laid 69 drug-related charges at the festival which attracted nearly 50,000 to Sydney Olympic Park on November 28th. The tour continues this weekend with the Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane legs.
