  • Roland has revealed two new products, the SYSTEM-500 modular synthesiser in Eurorack format and the A-01 MIDI controller and sound generator. The SYSTEM-500 Complete Set is an all-in-one option inspired by Roland's coveted SYSTEM-700 and SYSTEM-100 racks produced in the late '70s. The new model is analogue and features an array of previously released Roland modules—a pair of 512 oscillators, a pair of 521 filters, two 530 amplifiers, two 540 ADSR envelopes and a single 572 with phase shifting, delay, gate delay and an invertible LFO. The system comes in a powered case with patch cables included. The A-01 is a compact MIDI controller that offers CV and gate outputs in addition to Bluetooth for sequencing multiple types of hardware and software. Apart from controlling other units, the A-01 also includes an 8-bit CPU sound generator, a 16-step sequencer and dual ribbon strips. The A-01 is also designed to be docked with Roland's K-25m keyboard. The announcement of the SYSTEM-500 Complete Set consolidates Roland's movement into the modular market last year, while the A-01 carries on the impetus for all things small set forth in their Boutique line. Find out more about the SYSTEM-500 Complete Set below.
Roland will release the A-01 for a suggested retail price of $599 in February while the SYSTEM-500 Complete System is available now.
