  • LA institution A Club Called Rhonda will throw its Rhondavous Valentine's Day party at UNION on February 12th. Back in November, we reported on the purchase of Jewel's Catch One—a sprawling disco known as an integral hotspot for the city's gay black community—by Mitch Edelson, who also owns Los Globos, the site of Rhonda's monthly parties. The multi-floor venue has been outfitted with a Funktion-One rig and will reopen in February as UNION, when A Club Called Rhonda presides over four stages. The well-established party has roped in some popular headliners such as recent Los Angeles transplant Bonobo and Guy Gerber (who typically spends his winters in LA). Ibiza mainstays The Martinez Brothers are also on the bill, while the other stages field more underground acts. Kenny Larkin will bring the Motor City sound to UNION, while Eddie C, Horse Meat Disco and Ray Mang will hold down classic disco and edits. South London Ordnance, Justin Strauss and Have A Killer Time boss Justin Miller are also on the lengthy lineup, which includes local jocks Masha, Daddy Differently and Dirty Dave. Listen to Horse Meat Disco live at Rhonda's August party below.
