  • Emotional Response sublabel Especial has announced a new series of remix EPs, starting with a four-tracker interpreting Jeffrey Sfire's debut 12-inch. The Specials concept is pretty simple—Emotional will take music it loves, license the tracks from the relevant labels and recruit remixers for standalone releases. The Michigan native Sfire dropped his self-titled record on CockTail d'Amore Music in 2013. Especial describes it as "one of those records that comes out to little fanfare but steadily becomes a sought after classic." Remixes features takes from Lauer, Emotional regular Jamie Paton and San Francisco group INHALT. In April, Especial will focus on Dreamzone, a 2013 EP from Finnish musician Jaakko Eino Kalevi. The tracks on this one originally came out Domino sublabel Weird World. New York record digger Tom Noble, Weird World labelmates Peaking Lights and PAN's Casio maven Heatsick are onboard for that one. April also sees the release of a Specials 12-inch reimagining songs by Steaua De Mare, a Romanian psychedelic fusion unit. Fellow Bucharest residents (and friends of Especial) Khidja contribute two remixes to that one. Tracklist Sfire - Remixes 01. Sfire 2 (Kris Baha '86 Remix) 02. Sfire 2 (Jamie Paton Remix) 03.
