- An EP with four hard-to-find industrial techno cuts, first released nearly 20 years ago, is the first entry in the Berlin label's new SELD series.
Berlin techno label Ownlife is reissuing four productions from Iesope Drift.
They've apparently been inactive for years, but Iesope Drift remains to this day a key name among clued-in fans of dark, industrialized techno. The shadowy duo, who were also behind aliases like Obscurum and Ostia, released more than 20 hard-hitting records during the late '90s, almost all of which came through the Element Com (or E-COM) label family.
For this "mini-compilation" reissue EP, SELD001, Ownlife boss Leiras has gathered together four Iesope Drift and Ostia tracks from records, now hard to find, that originally saw release in 1997 on the E-COM subsidiary Seico Corp. Packaged with a large poster insert, it's already available at Hard Wax—a wider release is imminent.
The vinyl-only EP kicks off Ownlife's new SELD series. With Leiras saying it will "[perpetuate] the legacy of some of techno's pioneers," it looks like SELD will be focused on reissues, though further details about the endeavour are still scarce.
To date, Leiras has used Ownlife to release his own work, which has been augmented by Peter Van Hoesen and Sleeparchive remixes, along with solo records from Jonas Kopp and Tensal (AKA one half of Exium).
