  • Pioneer DJ has a new product. The Toraiz AS-1 is an analogue monophonic synthesiser that joins the Toraiz SP-16 sampler in a range of devices bridging the gap between DJing, live performance and production. The circuitry and seven on-board effects are based on Dave Smith's Prophet-6. This includes two voltage controlled oscillators, with continuously variable triangle, sawtooth, and pulse waveforms, a 4-pole low-pass and a 2-pole high-pass filter. These can be modulated with two envelopes and an LFO and sequenced on 64 steps with a sequence lock function. A touchpad keyboard can be set to scale mode for staying in key, while a touchstrip can control modulation of seven parameters. The Toraiz AS-1 is designed to integrate with the its SP-16 sibling and CDJs to create a hybrid setup in the booth. Watch a promo video for the Toraiz AS-1.
