  • Elektron announced a new product at the NAMM conference in Anaheim, California, yesterday. The Digitakt is a portable drum machine and sampler with a digital engine. It's capable of running eight tracks each of audio and MIDI with a multi-mode filter and LFO assignable on a per track basis, while delay and reverb are available on sends. 64MB of sample memory plus an extra 1GB of +Drive storage is on hand for sample management. MIDI in, thru and out ports in combination with the eight MIDI tracks means the Digitakt could function as a powerful sequencer of external hardware, something that wasn't possible with other Elektron products like the Analog RYTM and Analog Keys. While no official price has been announced, an Elektron rep has reportedly claimed it will cost around €650, placing it in a more affordable bracket than the Analog range. It will be available this spring. Elektron will release the Digitakt in spring 2017. Official pricing is yet to be announced.
