  • Resident Advisor is hosting a 12-hour party at Salon Des Amateurs on Saturday, May 20th. The event, which starts at 6 PM and runs through until 6 AM, will raise funds for the Düsseldorf venue, whose future is currently imperilled by water damage. Jonny Nash, the Gaussian Curve member who recently released a solo album, Eden, will play live, as will the Brussels-based Venezuelan artist Bear Bones, Lay Low and PAN affiliate M.E.S.H., who is making his Salon Des Amateurs debut. The rest of the lineup includes two top-drawer DJs who are both playing Salon Des Amateurs for the first time—John Talabot and Sassy J—as well as the venue's resident/cofounder, Tolouse Low Trax. Cost is €10 on the door, and all profits on the night will go to the venue. The Salon, as it's often called, is a haven for leftfield dance music, with Tolouse Low Trax, Lena Willikens and Vladimir Ivkovic among the artists who hold residences. It's not yet known if the venue will be able to stay open in the long-term due to the water damage. Speaking to RA when the news of the damage first surfaced, Ivkovic said: "I wouldn't know where to go out in Düsseldorf. I mean... I don't 'go out,' Salon is never going out. It is more like going in." Read our 2015 profile of Salon Des Amateurs. Listen to Sassy J's set at last year's Sunfall festival in London.
