Dublab will hit the FM airwaves in 2017.
The Los Angeles-based internet radio station has been broadcasting online since 1999, and currently runs seven days a week out of its Silver Lake studio. Programming features a wide variety of music from a cast of local DJs and special guests. (Ben UFO, Four Tet and Floating Points recently stopped in for a back-to-back session.)
Dublab became a nonprofit in the mid-2000s in an initiative spearheaded by the station's general manager, Ale Cohen, and it receives grants and holds fundraisers (like the one currently underway this month) to keep going. It also programs events around LA, including at prestigious venues like the Museum Of Contemporary Art and the Founders Room in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Now, as LA Weekly reports, Dublab is making the move to FM later this year, though they will still be broadcasting online.
"99.1 FM. We have the gear," Cohen told LA Weekly. "We're close to confirming the place for the antenna. Later this year, we'll be up and running."
