This Friday 29 August, RZA , the Wu Tang Clan leader, will be playing at The Palace, Melbourne. His Australian tour is in support of his new album ‘The World According To RZA’. As the Wu Tang Clan’s founding member and chief producer, RZA has worked under many aliases including Bobby Digital, Rakeem, The Rzarector, The Abbot, and is recognised as one of the most influential and prolific producers in hip hop.
The RZA’s imagination is what has driven Wu Tang to where it is today with many platinum albums, a Grammy later, and an executed master plan to infiltrate the industry by having each individual Wu member sign solo deals with different record labels. RZA is still building the Wu Tang empire which includes his production company, record labels, clothing company Wu Wear, Wu Electronics, while further branching out into movies.
In addition, the RZA has overseen production for non-Wu artists such as Cypress Hill, Notorious BIG and Bjork , formed his own supergroup Gravediggaz with Prince Paul, Fruitkwan and Poetic , and recorded ‘Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai’ soundtrack album.
This trip marks RZA’s first visit to Australia and he'll have the Wu ensemble of Cilvaringz, Beretta 9 and DJ Sueside alongside him. Tickets are on sale now for $50 plus BF. And don't forget the Official After-party at Fractured with DJ Sueside!
