- IK Multimedia Syntronik packs 38 classic synths into a single package.
IK Multimedia is releasing a new software synth collection, Syntronik.
Comprising 17 different instruments, the package was built by multi-sampling 38 classic synthesisers, which can be mixed and matched with four different filter and chip designs. This allows users to combine different oscillator and filter characteristics in ways not possible on hardware. The company modelled the circuits from the Moog ladder filter, Roland's IR3109 chip, the Oberheim SEM state variable filter and the Curtis CEM3320 chip found in synths like the Oberheim OB-Xa and Prophet 5.
Some of the instruments are sampled from synths and string machines beyond the reach of most producers. These include the Alesis Andromeda, Elka Rhapsody 490, Oberheim OB-Xa, PPG Wave 2.3, Yamaha CS-80, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 and the usual spate of Moog and Roland offerings.
Each instrument is designed to replicate the inaccuracies and instabilities of the analogue domain using what the company calls DRIFT technology. The 17 are also available separately, while some bundle together similar instruments. For instance, Roland's JX range of synths are collected into a single instrument. Others, like the Andromeda and PPG Wave 2.3, come alone. 38 effects, including various modulators, dynamics processors and EQs, are also included.
