- The venue's regeneration plan, produced in partnership with a team of architects and students, will be presented to local citizens and authorities at an event later tonight.
The team behind Milan venue Macao has created a regeneration plan for its Viale Molise 68 building in a bid to be recognised by the city as a cultural institution.
The guide, drawn up in tandem with local architects and students from Milan Politecnico and Bocconi University, includes how to make the project economically and architecturally sustainable. It'll be presented later tonight to a group of local citizens, members of the authorities and representatives from some of the city's other cultural spaces.
As Christine Kakaire explored in a feature last year, Macao is one of Europe's most exciting experimental venues. Since 2012, the former slaughterhouse has been a hotbed for cutting-edge electronic music, though its future was under threat last year when the current owners, Sogemi, considered putting it up for sale.
