  • Drone and experimental composer Sarah Davachi has a new album out next month called Let Night Come On Bells End The Day. It's the first of two records Davachi says she'll be putting out in 2018, and it's coming through Recital, a Los Angeles label run by Sean McCann. (Davachi currently resides in Los Angeles, where she's working on a PhD in Musicology at UCLA.) Produced mainly using a Mellotron and electronic organ, the album will get an initial release as a vinyl LP that comes packaged with a CD edition and three photo prints from the artist herself. In his introduction, McCann suggests some accoutrements for an evening listening session with the record: "A blanket, a cup of wine, a dim bulb, a wide window." Davachi's last full-length, All My Circles Run, an LP focused strictly on acoustic sound sources, was issued on Students Of Decay in March 2017. Watch a video for a piece from the new album, "At Hand," created by Paul Clipson, a filmmaker and visual artist who passed away earlier this year.
