  • Gunnar Wendel, AKA Kassem Mosse, is providing music for a new dance performance that begins at a Leipzig theatre this month. The German leftfield house and techno producer has scored Slave To The Rhythm, a performance for five dancers and a pianist conceived by choreographer Hermann Heisig. It will premiere at Schauspiel Leipzig on Thursday April 19th, with seven more performances scheduled through early May. The performance draws on ideas from Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, a Swiss composer, musician and educator who developed a method of experiencing music through bodily movement. As Schauspiel Leipzig puts it, "Heisig is interested in the point at which harmony becomes totalitarian, the lively becomes mechanical or the rhythm and dynamics of a group spin out of control." Wendel's last Kassem Mosse release, a double-pack on his own Ominira label, came out in late 2017.
