180° Virtual Environment at Sunny 6th Birthday

Sunny is one party where the party environment and patron comfort is of just as much importance as the music. On Friday 14th November, the Sunny crew will step to showcase a clubbing experience that is ground breaking on a global level with the launch of the worlds first ‘Virtual Wrap-Around Environment’.

Melbourne based visual artists Rob Ride and Ruben Osendarp have created technology that will use over 84 meters of screening and 7 linked projectors to create a 180° visual show that makes use of the entire human visual range, and immerse the dance floor in an entirely created environment. With the next Sunny due to take place at the Palace, this technical setup will transform the venue.

The visual show is completely driven by the DJ’s beat, meaning that when the beat slows down or the tempo changes, so will the visuals. Providing the music at Sunny’s 6th birthday will be Anthony Pappa (4hour set), Gab Olivier, Gavin Keitel, Ozzie LA, Jono Fernandez, Lynt, Keltec and Mangan. This is definately an unbelievable lineup of Melbourne's best locally and abroad, and of future talent.

Tickets for the event are on sale from DMC Records, The Palace, Central Station, Polyester and Rhythm & Soul (city) for $40+bf. Make haste!

Mon, 17 Nov 2003i'm sorry I missed the scratching one of my top 10 gigs ever was when i saw Max Graham, one time hip hop dj then a prog master, do some scratching over prog n tech house tunes. He was truely amazing and did it to excellent effect in the set, so i would have liked to see how Pappa, one time DMC champ did it.I enjoyed Pappa, but I just cant handle more than a few hours of prog these days. it all starts to bounce off my head after that. Thank god for breaks big kiss to sarabee for making my day... More

Mon, 17 Nov 2003Glad you enjoyed it Dresch. Maybe the anticipation was too high for me. I thought he was technically brilliant and I did enjoy it, but it wasn't akin to a religious experience for me (and yes I did stay until the end).I'm glad that my opinnion is not the norm, and if it takes Pappa to justify everything that went in to making it such a great night, then bring him out every year I say.

Sat, 15 Nov 2003Afraid Rabbitweed was right about the main attraction - I thought the first hour was great but it didn't really go anywhere IMHO. Wicked party nonetheless. Awesome visuals and the usual Sunny vibe. Great to meet you PC, keep up the good work.
