  • Demdike Stare has mined the archives of longstanding Italian improvisatory collective Il Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza for a new full-length called The Feed-Back Loop. Demdike Stare pieced together the hour-long collage using source material from the archives of Il Gruppo, the Italian collective formed in 1964 and counted Ennio Morricone, Egisto Macchi, Roland Kayn, Walter Branchi, Franco Evangelisti, John Heineman, Giovanni Piazza, Frederic Rzewski and Jesus Villa Rojo as members. The Feed-Back Loop takes its name the influential collective's best-known recording, 1970's The Feed-Back. The Feed-Back Loop, credited to Demdike Stare and Il Gruppo, was recorded in front of the collective's remaining members. "Tasked by the Festival Nuova Consonanza for a live performance at their 53rd Edition, with the remaining Gruppo members in attendance (Ennio Morricone, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Giovanni Piazza and Alessandro Sbordoni)," Demdike explain, "we apprehensively dived into our collections for pieces by Gruppo and its members in order to create this homage." The limited collector's edition cassette comes with a 10-panel fold-out inlay.
The Feed-Back Loop is out now via DDS.
