  • Lately Oslo has been experiencing a low in the club life. Larger venues no longer want cater to electronic or progressive music on big night such as Saturdays, Hip-Hop & R&B seem to be the trendy thing. Smaller more intimate venues seem to be picking up the slack as permitting the music to grow at it natural pace. There was a time a few years back when mostly all the clubs displayed some style of electronic, thousands would flock to go see the weekends superstar dj. Oslo was originally one of the first few cities that gave now superstar Tiesto his first foreign gig! Now the scene has all but died. Sander Kleinenberg had to be moved from Oslo to Trondheim due to this. James Holden (Hooked vs. Wonderbox Party) was also moved from one of the larger venues (Fabriken) to Sikamikanico (cap. 100) on April 24. The very popular ‘Renaissance’ events have been put on hold until June due to minimal turn-outs. Not discouraged by this most local promoters with the aid of the understanding agencies and their artist are working to re-build the scene in Oslo. ‘Monkey Business’ run by local rising DJ Nils Noa typically brings in amazing artist to Sikamikanico once a month. Artist like Adam Freeland, Paolo Mojo, & James Zabiela are recent guests of theirs. House of Deep Productions seems to be doing their part as well. The guy behind the ever growing ‘Gustozo’ parties has bought a number or amazing artist including; Luke Fair and Parks & Wilson, more recently Quivver (John Graham) & kingKADE has provided excellent nights for those at Cube Club. This time ‘Gustozo’ teams up with the popular techno group/concept ‘Reverberate’ to bring another legend to this tiny city with a big vibe. Kevin Saunderson one of less than a handfull of artist from Detroit responsible for the birth of techno (along with Juan Atkins & Derrick May) makes a special stop at Cube Club (Prinsens Gate 22, Oslo - cap. 150) on Wednesday April 07. Kevin will be also be promoting his new ‘TrustTheDJ’ album and will be joined by Reverberate Resident Hystero, Goophy and Oslo techno artist Roland Lifjell (one part of "Audibelle" along with Swedish Carl Henrik Halle). Those in Oslo, help support your local scene and venture to one of dance music’s great pioneers.
