  • After 15 years, 7 albums (including their new one coming), countless live appearances and DJ sets, the Hartnoll brothers of Paul and Phil will be closing the door on Orbital, one of the most famous and influential groups in dance music. Their discography reads longer than the bible; so many compilations hold an Orbital track or remix; some of the best producers have reworked an Orbital tunes; and their live performances around the world are timeless. Quote from the offical Orbital site Loopz.co.uk, Paul says:
"I think we feel that Orbital has run it’s course. We’re both pursuing different avenues with our music. And we’ve been sat, as brothers, in the same room for 15 years now – and studios are always confined spaces – I think it’s time for a change."
All is not lost for all the Orbital fans yet as the brothers are putting together their last album called 'Blue', due for release on June 21. The naming of the album is a tribute to the fans as previous untitled albums, back in the 90's, were unoffically titled 'Green' and 'Brown' by fans themselves. The boys will also be doing two final live gigs, one at the Brixton Academy on June 25 and a closing performance on the second stage at Glastonbury on Sunday June 27. If you can catch Orbital live before they part forever, it is an experience not to be missed.
