  • Before they hit the stage in Sydney, the stars of ‘Sweatfest World Tour’ 2004, will take time out to meet Sydney’s multi-cultural youth at the Addison Road Centre for Arts, Culture, Community and Environment. Headlining Sweatfest are three of the most influential dance acts of the 90’s - Snap! Featuring Turbo B, The KLF featuring Wanda Dee and C+C Music Factory featuring Barbara Tucker. With combined record sales of over 75 million albums worldwide, the bands will be performing all their hits LIVE in Sydney at a 10 hour event on Sunday, 13 June, 2004, at Wharf 3, Townes Place, Walsh Bay, where they’ll supported by Sydney’s finest DJ’s and Producers. On Tuesday, 8 June at 3.30pm, all 14 singers, rappers and dancers who comprise the ‘Sweatfest World Tour’ party will head to Inner City Marrickville to spend the afternoon with the volunteers and young talent from the Addison Road Centre for Arts, Culture, Community + Environment (ARC). The Addison Road Centre was incorporated in April 1976 as a non-proprietary and non-profit co-operative promoting emerging Australian talent. Radio Skidrow is part of ARC and most of their young broadcasters are hip hop/rap artists, singers and musicians with a high percentage from African, Islander and Indigenous-Australian backgrounds. As explained below Radio Skid Row is a very important part of Sydney and Australian culture:
”Radio Skid Row (2RSR) started approximately 20 years ago with a license specifically for marginalised voices. Since its inception it has worked with migrant and Aboriginal communities and was the beginning of today's Koori/Gadigal Radio. Radio Skid Row is a public access radio station catering to communities in the Inner West of Sydney and beyond with an alternative public affairs profile, youth and ethnic broadcasting and special focus on young women and emerging Australian talent. 2RSR offers training and qualifications to their broadcasters and are working to encourage these young people to express themselves creatively and get gigs.”
While there, the Sweatfest team will undertake a work shop with young talent as well as join them for interviews, dance classes and free-styling as well as singing and performing some of their hits especially for youth. ARC is located at 142, Addison Road and the performance begins at 3:30pm. The Sunday gig takes place at Walsh Bay from 1:00pm until 11:00pm and tickets are available from ticket with more info at the link below:
