‘Hiphoperation’ is a 13 track debut album by Blue Mountains based hip hop group Down Under Beats Crew, which introduces the skills of Codeks, Platterpush, MC’s Immune, Dialectrix, Joe New and features tracks from veteran Sydney MC 13th Son. Exploring elements of Reggae, Jazz, and funk through the distinctive Hip Hop production style of Codeks and Platterpush and featuring two DJ’s the album also has a strong Turntablism presence, especially evident on the two instrumental tracks, ‘Getting out of it’ and ‘For more then two ears’.
D.U.B crew’s track ‘Cloud number seven’ from ‘Hiphoperation’ recently won the 2004 Triple J unearthed competition for N.S.W, giving them huge exposure and the oppourtunity to release an album of this nature. It is distributed through Obese Records with promotional gigs in NSW to accompany the release.
