Sasha's 2005 monthly residencies at Crobar (NYC) and Giant (LA)

It’s been a few years since Sasha has had a residency anywhere in the world. As much as fans could dream, make rumors (hoping it might spark ideas) and hope, the thought of the world’s best (don’t tell Djmag) and busiest DJ having a residency seemed unconceivable.

But the wait is over. At least if you live in New York or Los Angeles, Dj Sasha has announced Fundacion: a couple of monthly residencies in New York at Crobar, NYC and Los Angeles at Avalon, Hollywood. This is the first residency Sasha has had since the legendary days of Club Twilo in Manhattan where he and a certain Mr. John Digweed planted musical seeds through their residency that have spawned delicious musical fruits which fans still savor to this day.

Fundacion will provide a laboratory for Sasha to experiment new music and digital technology which he has recently embraced as the future of live Djing, including the software Ableton live and a new console custom designed for Sasha to have all the controls inside the software at his hands, without using decks or a mouse.

Perhaps this is the reward that New York and Los Angeles get for having voted for John Kerry as opposed to Bush or maybe they’re just lucky, either way, it gives us all something to look forward to. Full coverage of the Los Angeles events including reviews and photos of the Sasha gigs will be provided by Los Angeles based photographer Dariography for RA.
Sasha Residency Dates:
Giant - get things started with the opening party on Saturday, December 18 and thereafter - January 29, February 26, March 19, April 23 and May 28.
Crobar - kick of their night with the announcement party on Friday, December 3 and thereafter - January 7, February 4, March 4, April 1, May 6 and June 3.
Tickets can be purchased directly through Sasha’s website or via the usual local outlets.comment 22 Comments

Mon, 20 Dec 2004Caught Sasha for the 3rd time here in Los Angeles (Avalon), this past weekend. Was defenitely a hard set, and consistent from begining to end, in my opinion. I expected a melodic feel, which I never got from his set, it felt kind of just average. Nonetheless, good time for sure. Expecting more on his next one though.
