  • German DJ Phil Broekelmann was driven to start his own label after coming to Australia and hearing new music from undiscovered talented artists. During his stay here Phil worked for a Sydney radio station and had a show on internet station PulseRadio. He then returned to Germany to work for the highly regarded label, Compost, before eventually establishing his own label, Curl Curl Music. The label has had two releases so far with the Nu Pacific – Sea Shells EP and follow up Nu Pacific – Offshore EP. The new release includes a track by Deepchild who is one of Australia’s most respected producers of soulful electronica. Based in Sydney, Deepchild plays out live in front of festival crowds. The song “For A Reason”, which features his brother Andy on vocals, was part of his highly-acclaimed first artist album "Chocolate Dubs". For Curl Curl Music, Deepchild has produced an exclusive remix which transports his original dub trademark, and has won fans including Jazzanova, into a broken-beat-infused feel. It also has features a remix by Sydney duo Georgie Zuzak and Paris, who make up the production team Groovescooter, of the Amphibian's "Empty" and a an emotive German techno remix of “Oceans & Whispers”, an outstanding piece of cinematic music by Bennson, based in Melbourne. Be sure to catch Phil as he tours throughout Melbourne and Adelaide playing the music of Curl Curl and giving us all a new look at Australian music through his eyes and ears. Check out the link below for more news on the label, which is available internationally through Intergroove and in Australia through Listen 24-7.
