The monthly breakbeat event Broken Home has jumped calendar dates and instead of the usual Friday its now set to happen this Saturday, 18 December. This month Broken Home says goodbye to Brown Alley after 8 consecutive parties, with a night that is sure to mark itself in the history books of Australian Breaks. It'll also be the last event until the St. Kilda festival in February 2005. So be sure to wear those dancing shoes, as this send off should be huge.
The special guest this month is Melbourne DJ and producer EK, who'll be doing a live performance of live Christmas carols. Occasionally named ‘Eddie’ by his mum, EK is no stranger to the global appreciation for Nuskool breaks. His release and remix repertoire is impressive, when you look at some of the more notables he has worked with including Hyper, The Crystal Method, Stisch and more recently Vigi & Nectarious. Currently EK is spreading his sound of funky, rolling breaks, influenced by his love of Hip Hop, creating a new sub genre within a sub genre, considered the EK breaks sound and will be performing Live at Broken Home.There will also be giveaways of his new mix compilation, out now in record stores!
Another Notable entrant to the Broken Home stables for Christmas is the return of the beaver DJ slot and breaks rising star Scott Feigan. Scott’s involvement with the Melbourne Breaks scene over the last two years started from the Relax parties at Two Floors Up and has now continued to many weekly nights around town. Scott joins the Broken Home family to deliver a suite of Hip Hop infused, Funky breaks and electro styles!
The residents Brewster B, Keltec and Mangan will also be in the house. As a thank you for the last 8 months, entry will be FREE for anyone with a Broken Home Xmas card or Brown Alley free entry card.
