In their annual 'Rock & Roll Yearbook' issue, Rolling Stone magazine have just named Infusion's 'Six Feet Above Yesterday' as one of their Best 50 Albums Of The Year. The Australian live act, whose 2005 tour diary is no doubt filling up fast, have gone from strength to strength in the past 2 years. Rolling Stone had this to say about their second long player.
"The second album from the ambitious Wollongong electronica trio cements their place as the international flag bearers' of Australian dance music. From playing to 30,000 people in Argentina to packing out nightclubs across the world, few artists took local electronica into as many corners of the world as Infusion this year. At its best, ‘Six Feet Above Yesterday’ is a rocking and inspired marriage of dark bleeps and foot-stomping dance that stands as a fine testament to the most successful local underground dance act of 2004."
Infusion are one of only 10 Australian or New Zealand artists to be named in the list of 50, and alongside the Scissor Sisters, only one of two electronic albums. Other albums named belong to bands such as Eminem, Interpol, Brian Wilson, The Streets and Gwen Stefani.

Infusion are soon to play live at one of Australia's biggest music festivals - the Big Day Out - on its national tour of the country starting late January. The boys will then head overseas for the rather late European release of their album that hit aussie shelves in September last year.

Tue, 18 Jan 2005AFAIK Infusion will be joined on stage by a well known former Canberran, now Melbourne-based prog/breaks producer playing some mean bass guitar (and possibly keys). But don't quote me on it. May add an element of Rock to the show, as it did with the album.I am so into these 'fusion' styles. Live with electronic. Andy Page on bass with two lappies -was simply magic. This sort of crossover is the future of dance music, for sure.

Tue, 18 Jan 2005Hey isn't Andy Page and someone else joining them to play as live instrumentalists for BDO? Thought I heard it somewhere...should be interesting how the album is interpreted live

Mon, 17 Jan 2005Yaay! blow off that lurker status! Starwater... thats a good track! I like the old album better than the new one i think. Yep *nods*

Mon, 17 Jan 2005Thanks Polecat.. thought it was about time I posted in these forums after scouting round anonymously for awhile... hmm they do include breakbeat elements sometimes i.e. one of the Starwater, It's Alright mixes and I've heard them play their own remix of Dan F's Line of Sight a few times... Agree though their live sets are quite techy

Polecatwrote
Mon, 17 Jan 2005welcome to  racheld83! I dont hear much breakbeat in Infusion's live sets. Must have seen then >3 times now. I think they sound more like tech house live. That's why the new album seems so weird I think with its rock tones coming through. as you said... we'll have to see how the new show sounds. maybe they need andy page to join them with his guitar

Mon, 17 Jan 2005Describing Infusion as 'rock-dance for suburban beer boys' isn't too accurate... I doubt a person who fits this description would even have heard of Infusion... but I could think of other bands that fit it Sure the latest album has rock influences but in terms of their live shows - they haven't been rocky at all - I've seen them play 3x and if i had to use a genre it's more like progressive breaks. Maybe their live show for the BDO will be more rocky?? Either way I'm looking fwd to... More
