Matthew Herbert has been making music one way or another since he was four years old and his parents took him off to violin lessons. The sounds of Wishmountain and Radio Boy's techno, Dr Rockit's jazzy electro tracks, Herbert's house and the Matthew Herbert Big Band could not be further from those squeaky violin sounds!

Herbert gained a new audience and greater awareness of his work with the release of 'Bodily Functions', and intimate sounding album recorded with the rich vocals of Dani Siciliano and sampled sounds taken from friends and family. To learn more about Matthew Herbert and his music have a read of our latest interview with the man, done on the eve of his trip to Australia.

Matthew Herbert plays a DJ set on Sunday 30 January at Honkytonks, Melbourne, with support from Ant J Steep vs Boogs, Angela Maison, Ennio Styles and Kano. This marks Herbert's fifth visit to Melbourne and second to Honkys. Entry is $25 on the door.

Sun, 30 Jan 2005I saw the man last night, caught the wrong tram home & woke up in Toorak Rd! around 8.00. Apart from that, I loved his set, around 2.10 to 2.20 I am sure he played the Sequins release for Roisine Murphy. He finished with some pulp 80's number I knew at the tiime., and whatever, nice apple...
