Well-respected German techno & house music magazine Groove has released the results of its annual 2004 Readers’ Poll Awards, ranking the top 20 in categories including (amongst others): Best German DJ, Best International DJ, Best Track, Best Album, Best Remix, Best Club, Best German Label and Best International Label.
The Cocoon sound has apparently been rocking Groove Magazine’s readers this year with Sven Väth (Cocoon founder) and Richie Hawtin (Cocoon Ibiza resident) landing the honours in the national and international dj-ing stakes, whilst Sven's newly-opened CocoonClub in Frankfurt and Richie’s m-nus label do the same in the “Best Club” and “Best International Label” categories. If that wasn’t enough, Mathew Jonson – who recently hopped labels from Itiswhatitis to m-nus - gets “Best Producer” and only misses out on best track (inevitably) to the ubiquitous “Rocker” from Alter Ego.
The top 20 lists are reproduced in full below, and make for some interesting reading. Groove on, indeed.
