  • Sydneysiders into techno howled out loud when they heard the techno headliners for the Two Tribes tour were not coming to their town. But good things come to those who wait, with the announcement of a separate side show for Richie Hawtin (CAN), Thomas Schumacher (GER) and Elektrochemie LK (GER, live) in Sydney on Saturday 5 March. Hawtin's visibility as one of experimental dance music's more important and innovative figures is constantly on the rise. A big leader in techno, he is aligned with the Detroit techno scene but now lives in Berlin. Richie will be playing a 3 hours set. Interestingly, Elektrochemie LK (ELK) is the collaboration of Thomas Schumacher and Sydney girl, Caitlin Devlin. They play high energy, jumping sets of techno, Detroit, rocking jack-yo-body music and melody. Their electronic music and songwriting complete each other to form as intrusive, highly charged atmospherics that are much more far-reaching than the general limited spectrum of pure techno. Hardware v2.0 lineup Richie Hawtin (3 hour set) Thomas Schumacher Electrochemie LK LIVE Biz E, Dave Slade, DJ Kate, N-Zed, Vic, Emass vs Methodixx, Mark Murphy, Mark Dynamix and Dr Jane Tickets are available for $35+BF on the Hardware website or $39+BF from the usual outlets. The party is on at GAS & Bohem, 467 Pitt St. Sydney.
