Any experienced New York clubber knows that after a weekend jam packed with pre-parties, after-parties, after-after-parties and the like, one should still leave room for the Sunday festivities at LeSouk in Alphabet City. This soiree manages to pack the house on a weekly basis thanks to founder Swamy and resident DJ’s Astro and Glyde.

The venue itself is an oasis for New Yorkers with its North African inspired décor, hookah filled passages, and open air back area. LeSouk Sunday Sessions was born in this space and has continued to grow year after year, relentlessly offering the one thing the city needed, a means by which to keep the weekend going way into Monday morning. Another factor which keeps contributing to the excitement of this event are the surprise guest appearances by talents such as Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia, Tiesto, Mr. C, The Scumfrog, Lee Burridge, John Creamer, and Behrouz. New York City is a required stop for DJs touring the States, and before skipping town after a weekend of spinning at NYC’s top clubs, you’ll often find them kicking back at Le Souk. Neeedless to say, Sunday Sessions therefore becomes a great underground party worthy of attending throughout the warm months.

To many, it would seem rather complicated to host a party on a day when most are recovering from the debauchery of days past, but it seems as thought the Sunday Sessions team has just the right formula to make it work. Swamy typically warms things up nice and slow with groovy daytime choons, whilst Astro & Glyde will take over in the later hours to bang out filthy dirty beats to lend the crowd a second wind.

This same formula became the concept for the LeSouk Sunday Sessions CDs, compiled and mixed by Swamy and Astro and Glyde. It will be released on August 9th with a US tour to follow. With the success of the weekly sessions its is no doubt that this is a souvenir soundtrack filled with memories of the party that never ends.
