  • As clubs across Eastern Europe continue to pull in the big names, it comes with great surprise that the Czech Republic's most famous club, the Roxy Nod in Prague has recently been forced to close its doors due to noise control issues. The last major event at Roxy took place back in April this year when Nick Warren played at one of its longest-running and most well-known parties, Zen. An oasis of independent music, arts and culture, prior to the closing the former theatre had also hosted live concerts and other performances early on in the evening and even seen the Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger as one of its patrons. Earlier this month the council ordered that no party be allowed to take place at the Roxy after 10pm. The venue, which had been awarded 'Club of the Year' in Prague for several years running had previously hosted DJs and artists including Hernan Cattaneo, James Holden, Adam Freeland, Faithless, Luke Slater, Grooverider and many others. Given its importance within the club and music scene in Prague, The Roxy is expected to open again after a general refurbishment to soundproof the venue but at this stage its management are non-committal about when exactly that may be.
