One that has slipped through the net, but is certainly worthy of a mention is Luke Solomon & Derrick Carter’s latest release which flew across our desk, and straight into the player this week at RA HQ. Coming from one of the most pimping and pumping (deep/filtered/click/electro/jacking/swing) house labels Classic Recordings will release compilation of the label’s most exquisite moments from the past decade. Label heads Carter & Solomon have been pushing and helping cultivate a sound influenced by their Chicago roots, but wordly in its uptake by both DJs and punters alike.
The label has always been an output channel for their own work. whilst allowing them an avenue to showcase sounds they have been digging. More often than not, the majority of the worlds house community has agreed with them. ‘A Classic Decade’ is a highlights package of their favourites and a good yard stick to see how the label has grown and adopted new sounds over the past 10 years.
From its humble beginnings at Derrick’s legendary Rednail studios in Chicago and The Barnet Social Club to the heady heights of hosting nights around the world and being considered one of the worlds premier house music outlets, don’t be surprised to read a similar news piece on RA in 10 years time when they announce their next Decade of hits.
