  • Brisbane duo Statler and Waldorf have made their name with their unique sound and fun live shows around town. Now those who live further afield can sample their tunes with the release of their debut album AndroNovaVirus. Statler & Waldorf play an energetic rock/electro fusion combining electronic styles from trance to breaks with rock riffs and vocals. After last year’s EP Collusions and the smash hit single Bass Buffer, AndroNovaVirus’s powerful beats and driving feel will surprise those not familiar with the S&W live shows from which the album is inspired. Statler and Waldorf first came to the attention of the wider dance music community when Bass Buffer wowed audiences in 2004. Live and in the studio, Statler & Waldorf utlilise Ableton, live synthesizers, FX and their own powerful vocals to unleash a multitude of electronic styles including breaks, trance and acid with other genres such as rock, punk and hip hop to generate a sound unmistakably their own. Billed for shows with acts as diverse as Infusion and Spiderbait, and with their performance at the Big Day Out boiler room broadcast on JJJ, Statler and Waldorf’s power and energy has established them as one of the country’s premier live dance acts. AndroNovaVirus hits stores in October 2005. The album also includes remixes of Sarah Blasko’s "Don’t U Eva" and "Bass Buffer" (from the EP). Statler and Waldorf tracks will also feature on Bexta’s new Mixology and Mixology Chill compilations. You can also expect to see S&W on the television when their film clip of single ‘Duck ‘n’ Cover’ premieres in late October. Not content with one album, Statler and Waldorf also form half of trip-hop inspired outfit Spook whose debut album, "The Dusk Sessions", is also an October release. Teaming up with the musical talents of Chanel Cole and Daniel Belle - finalists in 'that TV show' last year, the album is a beautiful down-tempo release. Spook have live performances planned in late 2005, so keep an eye out for them. The buzz surrounding the project is such, that you can expect Spook to be movers and shakers in the Oz charts too. Statler and Waldorf's next live date is at Earthcore Carnival from 2nd- 4th December at Peak Crossing, Brisbane. They come highly recommended!
