De La Soul Australia & New Zealand Tour

De La Soul have earned themselves a huge following in Australia and internationally since the release of their ground-breaking debut album ‘3 Feet High and Rising’ in 1989. They have forged themselves a reputation as influential hip hop pioneers. The band formed in the late 80’s when the trio of Posdnuos, Trugoy and Mase were still in high school. Through the release of their debut EP, De La Soul came to be perceived as the leaders of a contingent of New York-based “alternative” rappers who called themselves the Native Tongues Posse. Other members included A Tribe Called Quest, Queen Latifah, The Jungle Brothers and Monie Love.

This movement in hip hop’s evolution spawned a progression toward peace and positivity that echoes in productions from so many new hip hop innovators a la Jurassic 5 and The Roots. It's been 16 years since their huge hit "Me, Myself and I" and De La Soul are still active making music. Their recent collaboration with the Gorillaz on ‘Feel Good Inc.’ has seen them once again re-emerge into the evolution of cutting edge sounds.

For De La Soul's 2006 live show the band aim to play to smaller crowds and to more intimate venues than on their previous tour, and to get up close with the core De La heads that have been with them over the last 2 decades.

In the spirit of getting back to the people at street level, a short release of ‘Crate Digger’s’ tickets will be available for the real De La crate diggers for both the Sydney Enmore Theatre and Melbourne Prince of Wales shows. These special tickets include:
• Entry to the band’s pre-show, invite-only ‘meet and greet’ party, with a free drink on arrival.
• Entry to the official after party (@ Funktrust for Sydney)
• Entry to De La Soul’s live show
• Feel Good Inc. Tour ‘06 merchandise.

Supports for De La’s 06 shows remain unconfirmed, however several international guests are current prospects to back De La across Australia in 2006. Tickets for the Sydney and Melbourne shows cost $55 +BF for general admission and $77+BF for the ‘Crate Diggers’ tickets. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketek or at the venues.

De La Soul The Feel Good Tour Dates
Thursday 23 March - Sydney, The Enmore Theatre
Friday 24 March - Wellington, Wellington Town Hall
Saturday 25 March - Auckland, Studiolive
Thursday 30 March - Melbourne, Prince Of Wales Hotel
Friday 31 March - Perth, Metro City
Saturday 1 April - Brisbane, The Arena Entertainment Complex
