  • With only one week before the Big Day Out 2006 tour was due to commence in Auckland on Friday 20 January, the Boiler Room has lost one of its headline acts, Mylo, due to illness. Mylo aka Myles MacInnes has had to cancel both his Big Day Out and sideshow solo appearances in Australia due to a viral problem that is threatening his hearing. The promoters of Big Day Out, Lees and West, have released a statement from Mylo's management. “Myles contracted a virus over the New Year which resulted in partial hearing loss in one ear. Unfortunately the situation has since worsened and he has lost hearing in one ear completely, and has only partial hearing in his other ear. He was hoping that a couple of days rest would help regain his hearing. However, since his arrival in Cape Town for a show and receiving specialist medical treatment, unfortunately no progress has been made. As a result of this, he is grounded in Cape Town and unable to move at the moment. As you can probably imagine it is impossible for him to perform right now and therefore we regretfully have to cancel the Big Day Out shows.” The news is sure to be a blow for his many Australian fans. There is no word yet on how the BDO plan to fill the gap in the Boiler Room lineup. Refunds are available from point of purchase for Mylo’s two solo shows. These were scheduled to take place in Sydney on Saturday 28 January at Home and in Melbourne on Thursday 2 February at the Prince of Wales. Recover soon Mylo!
