- A welcome antidote to the thumping sounds of main room bass bins this compilation is the third studio album from Skeewiff.
Jalapeno Recordings unleash the third studio album from the hottest (see what we did there) stars of the lounge-hop scene, Skeewiff. A welcome antidote to the thumping sounds of main room bass bins this compilation features a substantial dose of Northern Soul and Mod Classics.
The album features a few collaborations, with ‘Triumph Stag’ featuring the keyboard talents of Alan “The Hawk” Hawkshaw and ‘Love Power’ featuring the sweet vocals of Charlise Rookwood. Other tracks ‘Wet Your Beak’ is an ode to the joys of drinking and features a thirties boogie-woogie piano man and the clever remake of ‘Man of Constant Sorrow’, which originally came about as a live mix dropping the accapella from the “O Brother Where Art Thou” soundtrack over some Skeewiff beats.

Skeewiff (real names Elliot Ireland and Alex Rizzo) have always been firm favourites of the TV ad agencies with the duo providing the soundtrack to Nike's Euro 2004 campaign and ‘Little Spot of Soul’ from this album may also seem a little familiar as an earlier incarnation of the track featured in a VW advert. Expect to hear many of these cuts if you are reclining in a bar, juicer, boozer, cocktail joint or hotel lobby throughout 2006.
