Global Underground have finally announced a release date for ‘Because We Can’, the artists album from down-under double act Lostep. Consisting of Melbourne producer Luke Chable and DJ/producer extraordinaire Phil K the duo have put their multi skilled creative minds together for a 12 piece release that will showcase their ingenious diversity as producers. As Phil mentions the final product was a long time in the making, but having a good friend along the way makes the process all the more enjoyable:
"It took about two years to complete” says Phil, “when we get in the studio we like to create everything together...the experience of writing music with someone else can be very special. It certainly feels more like being in a band this way. You live it together and you experience that joy of creating it. We are great friends and we share great memories of our creations, that’s what’s so fun about it, everything that goes with the creating experience becomes a great memory which ties us closer together as friends"
Both artists have built strong profiles in their own right, but they have a history of creating studio magic as a pair. Originally working under the guise of 'Dark Alley' with fellow Melbournite Ivan Gough they created 'The Roots', which features vocalist Lior Attar, and featured on Dave Seaman’s Global Underground Melbourne compilation, before also being released on the label as a single. The next single ‘Burma’ (included on this album) was another "happy accident" which came together in an after hours studio session and went on to be remixed by Sasha for his Billboard #1 ‘Involver’ album.
Clearly they work well together and this album will hopefully give the duo a dance to widen their appeal by presenting a broad spectrum of Lostep sounds.
