WMC Party Propaganda : Paul Woolford at Cycles

Erotic discourse aside, there'll be no dirty talking, but plenty of dancing, when Paul Woolford hits up the Cycles party presented by InnovIII at this year's WMC.

Woolford will be flying into Miami on the back of his "Erotic Discourse" release on 20:20 Vision, a track which, to his surprise, has opened up a few more doors, and pushed things forward for him in terms of how he's perceived as a producer and DJ.

"I didn't think that so many people would connect with it, I thought it was too extreme. It just shows that there's no need to compromise at all, that you can make music from the heart however abstract or intense, and it will find an audience."

Aside from 'Erotic Discourse', Woolford says the punters at Cycles can also expect to hear two new brand remixes he's done.

"The first is DK7 "Life Is Everywhere" for Output. It's a dark and moody acid house track with a male vocal that gets pretty crazy by the end. The other mix is my 313 remix of Peace Divison "Club Therapy" for NRK. This is the polar-opposite of DK7 musically. It's a 10-minute deep house/detroit techno-influenced builder. It's really intense but very musical as well. I'm going out of my way not to use a formula with my remixes, I don't want to play it safe, I don't want to be predictable so it will be interesting to see the reactions to this mix. I think it's better than "Erotic Discourse" in every way, although it's a totally different atmosphere to it."

As far as standout tunes of the Conference go, Woolford tips James Holden's remix of Blackstrobe on Crosstown Rebels to clean up at some of the more underground events. He also touts the Carl Craig remix of Theo Parrish's 'Falling Up' as the one track which will get played at every party.

"It unites everybody, " says Woolford. "Techno heads to soulful-types all love it. I would bet that somebody tries to sign it".

Paul Woolford and some of Chicago's finest DJs will play at InnovIII presents Cycles at Angel Ultra on March 22nd, 2006.comment 8 Comments
