'The Future Sound of...' takes a peek at the release slate of some of your favorite producers. This week we scale the Swiss Alps to see what Ripperton has lined up in 2006.

Ripperton, real name Raphael Ripperton, is a Swiss DJ/producer who is one half of Border Community's Lazy Fat People, though we're not sure if he's the lazy half, the fat half or both. He’s also about to unleash a swath of solo productions on labels such as Connaisseur Recordings, Matthew Jonson’s Wagon Repair and Carl Craig’s Planet E. The crew at Lee van Dowski's Num Records describe his releases as "modern and airy minimal techno" but others might call it neu trance or even neu prog.

Following on from the Lazy Fat People release 'Big City' on Border Community (featured on Holden’s ‘At the Controls’), two Ripperton remixes of 'Eve by Day' by RA favourite Patrick Chardronnet hit the shelves this month. The Lovelee Dae mix doesn't stray too far from the original (and why would you?) but the Epic Mix is a more cinematic effort than club stomper.

Patrick Chardronnet - Eve by Day RemixesTracklist

A. Patrick Chardronnet - Eve by Day (Ripperton’s Lovelee Dae Mix)
B1. Patrick Chardronnet - Eve by Day (Fairmont Mix)
B2. Patrick Chardronnet - Eve by Day (Ripperton’s Epic Mix)

Patrick Chardronnet – 'Eve By Day Remixes' will be released July 12th, 2006 on Connaisseur Recordings.

In August Ripperton teams up with newcomer She DJ Masaya on 'Long Distance' for a limited offshoot on Num Records. Don’t suppose it needs to be said, but She DJ Masaya is actually a female jock (and not from Thailand as RA originally thought). As Ripperton enthusiastically puts it:
"She DJ Masaya is one of the best She DJs in Switzerland. She comes from Chile and She is my best friend!"

Ripperton & She DJ Masaya - Long DistanceTracklist

A. Ripperton- Long Distance
B. Ripperton & She DJ Masaya - I Love…

‘Long Distance’ will be released as a limited edition on Num Records August 06, 2006.

Spring will see Ripperton drop a bundle of tracks with Mirko as Lazy Fat People. Expect new tracks on Wagon Repair ('Shinjuku EP') in August, Planet E ('PixelGirl') towards the end of the year, Obsolete ('Fishpoolish') and Perc Trax ('Science Fiction Version').

In October, Ripperton will rework Robsounds, download king of Canadian net label Tidepool, on a track slated for Ripperton’s forthcoming new label Perspectiv which will launch in September.

Well, it looks like Ripperton isn't the lazy half after all. Keen to find out how he keeps up this prodigious workrate, RA asked Raphael what the tools of his trade were.
"I produce with Pro tools and Logic Audio, a Korg MX and SX, Mini Moog Voyager & some plug-ins."
Simple. And if you're wondering how Ripperton DJs, check out his latest DJ mix. He also kindly archives some of his older mixes at his website.
