  • After a year off, Barcelona's bellwether electronic festival is back in Tokyo October 7-8. First round of confirmed artists includes De La Soul, Senor Coconut and Nobukazu Takemura, but stay tuned for more internationals to line up for the festival in the coming weeks. Sonar Tokyo, or strictly speaking, SonarSound Tokyo, is the little brother of Barcelona’s annual June bash, and has the same philosophy of showcasing the more adventurous side of dance music, with conferences and media doodads thrown in for good measure. Once again Sonar is taking place at the Garden Hall and Garden Room in Ebisu, with the nearby movie theatre and halls booked in for the multimedia side of the fest. Ticket prices are still at a hefty ¥9000 for the day or ¥17000 for two days, but as always, whether to hand over the cash will depend on the internationals. Watch this space for updates. First round of artists includes Afra & Incredible Beatbox Band, De La Soul, Doravideo, Eliot Lipp, Go Home Productions, Golden Pink Arrow, Aco+Taeji Sawai (a.k.a. portable [k]ommunity) + Tanaka-Kun, Nobukazu Takemura, Optrum, Senor Coconut and His Orchestra, Softpad, and Tucker. SonarSound 2006 will happen at Ebisu Garden Hall, Tokyo on October 7-8, 2006.
