  • Carl Cox has produced the fiftieth release for his label Intec Records. 'K'Pasa/Spoon' is also a tribute to the late Mark Spoon. Techno big gun Carl Cox set up Intec Records more than six years ago as an avenue for pushing lesser-known producers. Since then, the label has had several anthemic releases, notably Smith & Selway ('Move'), Tomaz & Filterheads ('Sunshine') and Renato Cohen ('Pontape'). More recently it has switched its attention to up-and-comers Sebastien Leger, Hiroki Esashika and Allan Banford. Next month the label notches up its fiftieth release 'K'Pasa/Spoon'. Produced by Carl Cox, the 12" marks the first time the label boss has released original material on Intec. K'Pasa/Spoon' also doubles as Cox's personal tribute to the late Markus Löffel aka Mark Spoon (one half of Jam and Spoon), who passed away this past January. "I always enjoyed Jam & Spoon music and the elements in my dedication are influenced by their productions. I thought it was a good time, to make an ode to them to say thank you for inspiring me over the years and I wanted to give them something back through my own music, " says Cox. Intec has long been a champion of funky carnival techno and while acknowledging the dramatic shift away from the sound on dancefloors around the globe, Cox isn't planning on a change in the label's musical policy anytime soon. "I know times have changed in the scene right now and music evolves and develops into new trends and fashions, but I will always stick by this sound, while I also look forward to moving forward onto the next 50 releases on Intec too," explains the label boss. Carl Cox 'K'Pasa/Spoon' is released on Intec Records on September 4th, 2006.
