  • September 30, 2006. Radioactivity is a weekly roundup of the best radio shows, podcasts and downloadable sets online. This week Agoria, Lindstrom and Konrad Black... *** Babs: Think Misstress Barbara and think big banging stadium club techno. Think John Digweed and think pillar of progressive. It would be fair to assume the two don't have much in common, but that's all about to change Monday week when Misstress Barbara's latest EP 'K-10/Azzurri' is released on Digweed's Bedrock stable. Apparently Babs has softened these days and is spinning at the housier and electrohouse end of the techno spectrum (she’s also rumoured to be doing the next Border Community 12”). You can catch her this week as the guest DJ on John Digweed's Transitions show on Kiss100. Note that the show now airs two hours later on Sundays 3 a.m. - 5 a.m. GMT+1. Armchair clubbing: This week French gothic pop technoist Agoria releases his second album 'The Green Armchair', the follow-up to ‘Blossom’ which produced the minor classics 'La 11ème Marche' and 'Stereolove’. While last year's 'Les Beaux Jours' borrowed a little too heavily from Mathew Jonson's 'Marionette' to be worth championing too much, first single 'Code 1026' is already being lapped up by Tiga, James Holden and Carl Craig. 'The Green Armchair' is this week's featured unreleased longplayer on DJ Broadcast FM. Tune in Sunday 11 p.m. GMT+2 when the album will be broadcast in full. Caviar clubbing: Norwegian talent Hans-Peter Lindstrom bangs one out at Club Caviar in Gothenburg which really tickles our eardrums - guitar solos and seventies synths never sounded so groovy (and intense). Lindstrom’s about to release his retrospective ’It’s a Feedelity Affair’ next month but this will do in the meanwhile. Play it for your old hippie uncle and get him into dance music. [via the fine and free beta.earplug.cc] Contexterrior: Jay Haze’s minimal techno netlabel Contexterrior has been doing podcasts for a bit this year. They’ve got downloadable sets from Argenis Brito, Michel Ho, Dan Curtin and both halves of Get Physical’s Fuckpony, Samim and Jay Haze himself. And if you like what you hear, you can download all their net releases too for the precise sum of zero dollars (though they're worth a lot, lot more than that.) Konrad Black at Raum: Barcelona’s best underground techno night last month hosted Wagon Repair’s Konrad Black, an hour of which is captured over at Play.fm. But brace yourself, Konrad dispensed with the dour minimal and delighted the crowd with the big tunes, throwing out party-tastic 12"s as well as a couple of unreleased Mathew Jonson tracks (who was boogying in the booth beside him). Other recent Raum sets include a live set by Sweet N Candy, Stewart Walker, Dapayk and a slice of Frankfurt from Dorian Paic. You have to sign up for these but it’s well worth it (and they don’t spam). Thanks to Jeff for catching these on tape! *** There you have it. If you have any links to fantastic music which you want to share with the world, post them in the forum or send 'em along to [email protected] with the subject line 'Radioactivity'. *** Radioactivity - delivered to your door with the milk every Saturday morning GMT.
