Southern Fried notch up their centenary release this month courtesy of The Mighty Dub Katz. RA and Trax2Burn are also giving one reader the chance to win the Southern Fried digital back catalogue.
Southern Fried Records is the house and electronica label owned by Norman Cook. From disco and latin-tinged house to funky house, electrohouse and even straight-up pop, over the last twelve years the label has released tracks from artists such as Armand Van Helden, Kurtis Mantronix, Space Cowboy, Cagedbaby, Grandadbob and of course Cook himself.
This month the label celebrates its hundredth release with 'Guaguanco' by Norman Cook under his Mighty Dub Katz alias. Centred around an Afro-Cuban rhythm which forms part of the rumba, the track was recorded with local musicians in Cuba. Disco and club remixes come via Ashley Beedle from X-Press 2 and Tom Middleton. The single isn't officially released until November 11, 2006 but you can listen to and download 'Guaguanco' on Trax2Burn now.
RA is giving one reader the chance to win the Southern Fried back catalogue as featured on mp3 download store Trax2Burn. That's around 65 releases and over 200 individual tracks including the new Grandabob album 'Garden of Happiness' and current single from Dada Life.
