  • Sydney SH-101 whizz Deepchild will play at the Australian Dance Music Awards ceremony at Home next month. Deepchild is deep tech dubtronica DJ and producer Rick Bull. Bull's latest album 'Lifetime' on Future Classic has been pricking up international ears of late, but he's actually been a part of the antipodean electronic music community longer than most. Those familiar with Australian underground house and techno collective Clan Analogue will recognise his name from their early 'Freaky Loops' and 'Cognition' comps. This year Bull has penetrated European dancefloors with the singles 'Blackess of the Sea' and 'No Disgrace', which were remixed by Luomo and Audiomontage aka Jamie Odell respectively. He's also had a remix on Odell's Freerange output. Bull is up for two trophies at this year's Australian DMAs including Best Album and Best Video Clip for 'Blackness of the Sea'. Other artists to perform at the DMAs include the Midnight Juggernauts, Sneaky Sound System plus DJs Jonathan Wall and James Taylor (AU) who will spin back-to-back. Sadly, the two biggest heavyweights of the Australian dance music scene Cut Copy and The Presets, who between them have a slew of nominations, will be absent. Deepchild plays the 2006 Australian Dance Music Awards at Sydney nightclub Home on November 17, 2006.
