  • November 4 2006. Radioactivity is a weekly roundup of the best radio shows, podcasts and downloadable sets online. This week Richie Hawtin, Optimo and Michael Mayer... *** Around the World: Kontakt is a new series of mixes Richie Hawtin is recording while travelling around the world featuring exclusive unreleased M_nus tracks and unheard material from the artists on the roster. The mixes are out on CD, but according to Richie's website, the only way to snaffle them is by "direct human kontakt" (and that doesn't mean stealing them from Magda's handbag, folks) with one of the many M_nus artists at the clubs. But there's a loophole: Hawtin is also putting the mixes on his website for streaming and you can now tune into Hawtin's second mix 'Kontakt 2'. Tracklisting in forum. Out of the Office: Tim Sweeney was recently in Australia as part of the DFA vs Modular face off parties with The Juan Maclean and Cut Copy. While he was away he got some friends to fill in for him on his popular radio show Beats in Space including early RA podcast pick Headman, Kompakt label boss Michael Mayer and Optimo's JD Twitch. Tim is back in the hot seat this week and New Yorker's can catch his latest show live on WNYU 89.1FM on Tuesday 10:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. GMT - 5. Freaky Dan: Another RA podcast pick Dan Ghenacia steps up for his first Essential Mix this weekend. The Frenchman is the owner of the Freak n'Chic label which has just released the new single 'The Capsule' by latest RA podcaster Jamie Jones. Dan's mix airs on BBC Radio 1 on Sunday 1:00 a.m. - 3:00 a.m. GMT. Where everybody knows your name: 'The Look', the debut album by Canada's answer to Daft Punk MSTRKRFT finally gets a European release on Modular soon but if you're wondering what the fuss is all about, the pair have a two-hour DJ set recorded live at the Lowlands Festival this August in Amsterdam. Think it's going to be another slab of dance rock cuts? Think again. The mix ends on Steve Lawler's 'That Sound' and the theme song to TV sitcom Cheers. You can listen to the MSTRKRFT set plus other live sets by Ame, Tiefschwarz, Joris Voorn and Pendulum at the Lowlands 2006 Festival page of VPRO. Out of Orbit: Martinez was the smarty pants who signed 'Beta Boy' by Great Dane Trentemoller to his Out of Orbit label so you know he's got an ear for good music. The Dane-with-the-Spanish-name has also just finished putting together his first label compilation 'Restructured Layers' which will be released in January 2007. This week he's the guest DJ on John Digweed's Transitions show and you can catch him spinning the second hour of the show this Sunday 4:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m GMT on Kiss100. As always the show will be archived on JohnDigweed.com until the following Sunday. Handy Hint: You can turn off the train rattling by every five minutes by clicking the word 'sound' in the top right of the page. *** There you have it. If you have any links to fantastic music which you want to share with the world, post them in the forum or send 'em along to infoATresidentadvisor.net with the subject line 'Radioactivity'. *** Radioactivity - delivered to your door with the milk every Saturday morning GMT.
