  • The UK's long-running Virgin aka V Festival sets foot on antipodean shores for the first time next autumn. Dance fans have something to look forward to with Soulwax/2Many DJs and Groove Armada early confirmations. Groove Armada and 2 Many DJs headlined the dance tents at the respective V Festivals in the UK and US earlier this year and both pairs of DJs are the first two dance acts confirmed to play the Australian version of the festival. Soulwax, the extended dance rock collective unit of 2 Many DJs will play as well as eighties pop veterans The Pet Shop Boys. Like shimmering pop or guitars more than synths? Other confirmed artists include The Rapture, The Pixies in their first live gig down under, Phoenix, Softlightes, Bumblebeez, The Temper Trap and Mercy Arms. Expect psychedelic soul duo and dress-up pop kings Gnarls Barkley, who sported togas at the V Festival in Baltimore this year, to make a splash on the main stage. The Australia edition of the V Festival includes dates in Sydney and the Gold Coast and follows on from successful V festival debuts in the U.S and Canada this year. The V Festival takes place at Centennial Park, Sydney on March 31, 2007 and Avica Resort, Gold Coast on April 1, 2007 with Melbourne dates still to be confirmed. Tickets go on sale on December 4, 2006.
