  • Fuckpony mastermind Jay Haze takes a break from house and techno to try his hand at hip hop. Longtime Jay Haze watchers will know to expect the unexpected from the American in Berlin: His Fuckpony and Fuckponydelic projects in 2006 shifted his sound away from minimal techno and towards housier environs. Does Jay think fans of ‘Ride the Pony’ or ‘Soul in a Bottle’ will take to this direction? “The picture that desperately needs to be painted of me is I’m not a one-minded kind of guy,” Haze told RA. “My hip-hop career is really starting to take shape, maybe even more promising shape than my house career. It’s a new direction for me.” ‘Keep it Real’ is the promo single off a new Jay Haze album, tentatively titled “Love and Beyond…From the Schizophrenic Mind of Jay Haze”, which Haze hopes to release later this year. Haze currently shopping around for labels, but one thing’s for sure, he’s probably not knocking on the door of Get Physical or Cocoon, given the track’s hip hop stylings. Check out video for ‘Keep it Real’ for a taste of Jay Haze’s take on the genre. c
