Remix machine Radio Slave takes on the fourth installment in the 'Misch Masch' series. 'Misch Masch IV' hits shelves in June.
'Misch Masch' is a double CD compilation which includes a DJ mix and a set of unmixed remixes by the same artist. Previous DJ/producers to take on the concept include Tiefschwarz, Freeform Five and DJ Hell.
Radio Slave originally started out as Matt Edwards and Serge Santiago, gaining attention for their reworkings of pop acts such as Kylie and Fischerspooner. But after the duo split in 2002, Edwards took the name and has since been refining the Radio Slave sound, primarily as a remixer, handing in recent big rerubs for Chelonis R Jones ('Deer in the Headlights'), The Knife ('We Share Our Mother's Health') and X-Press 2 ('Kill 100'). Last year alone, he put out more than twenty remixes under both his Radio Slave and Rekid monikers.
On disc one of 'Misch Masch 4', Edwards packs in neo-Detroit (Shed), techno (Deetron), minimal (Andomat 3000 & Jan), the hot Villalobos remix of Shackleton's 'Blood on My Hands' as well as no fewer than eight Radio Slave productions - six remixes and two originals. CD2 includes six more Radio Slave remixes of tracks by Carl Craig, Pet Shop Boys, M.A.N.D.Y vs Booka Shade, Moby, Cagedbaby, X-Press 2 and even RnB songstress Jamelia.
