UK house pioneer Joey Negro dusts off seventeen classics for the first installment of a new compilation series on NRK. 'Back in the Box' arrives on shelves in May.

'Back in the Box' invites DJs to dig deep into their record collections for lost house gems that ruled the dancefloors back in the day. The album comes as a double CD: disc one is a DJ mixed while the second features a selection of the mixed tracks in an unmixed format.

Negro's mix packs in acid house, vocal house and techno classics from some of the biggest names in dance. The album includes LFO's seminal 'LFO', Underground Resistance's 'Jupiter Jazz', Derrick May's 'R Theme', Faze action's recently re-issued 'In The Trees' plus remixes by David Morales ('Strobelight Honey') and Danny Tenaglia ('When U Love Someone').

Joey Negro (real name Dave Lee) was one of the first wave of UK garage house producers. He's been producing house music for almost twenty years under aliases such as Akabu, Z Factor and Jakatta. In the late eighties he founded the label Republic Records (Blaze, Kym Mazelle) before setting up Z Records, responsible for one of the biggest remixes of 2006, Akabu's 'Phuturebound' remixed by Âme.
