  • The rated club T-Bar in Shoreditch is preparing to reopen Bank Holiday weekend, after temporarily closing its doors last week, much to the dismay of London clubbers. "The owners were told that unless they agreed to close police would act to have their licence revoked,” London’s Evening Standard reported last week. Behind the closure is police pressure to step up anti-crime measures at the venue, although the hiatus also gives the T-Bar a chance to do a bit of refurbishment. “We want T Bar to continue to provide fantastic nights out in a safe and secure environment,” T-Bar managing director Jaime Ritchie told RA. “As such, we decided to close so that we can update our security measures and give the whole place a much needed spring clean.” “It is very important to note that we closed voluntarily,” adds Ritchie. “We were not shut down. We have been working closely with the Metropolitan Police to ensure that when we reopen we will have installed up-to-the-minute anti-crime measures to keep T Bar and all of its much loved customers safe.” All being well, the work will be completed in a week or two, and the T-Bar can look forward to a Bank Holiday reopening, just in time for the next Stink party, which in other sad news, is the final Stink party in London. Check the T-Bar website or RA for exact reopening dates.
