Latest album from the mysterious Black Devil Disco Club includes dub versions and reworkings of tracks from his experimental disco album '28 After'. 'Black Devil Disco Club in Dub' arrives in May.
Black Devil Disco Club is Bernard Fevre, but that’s about all we know. He might have released a six-track album of underground disco as Black Devil back in the seventies entitled 'Disco Club', but then again he might not have. Maybe that album didn’t even exist. The story Fevre tells is that 28 years after releasing a “cult classic”, which no one seems to be able to get their hands on, he put out a "new" six-track album last year called '28 After'. After much investigation, disco scientists still haven’t quite worked out if the original was a fake or the story is legit. Confused? So are we, and to make matters worse, Fevre gives a mean interview - he’s a difficult character to get a straight answer out of.
Meanwhile, a new CD version of ’28 After’ is on the way. This one includes all six tracks minus the vocals plus new interpretations by contemporary disco producers such as Elitetechnique, Prins Thomas, In Flagranti, Quiet Village, Black Mustang and Unit 4. Who we can confirm actually exist.
